Week 13

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,

This is a very sad week for us as this will be the last week where we see all of your wonderful faces on the google meet ups, we will be reading the last Friday letter you wrote to us and of course watching the talent show to share your passions. All the grade three teachers are sad to see the year come to an end. On that note, we will be changing the time of the meet up this coming Friday. Instead of meeting at 1pm, we will be meeting at 9am. This will allow for siblings to watch the grade 4 celebration and be done before noon. Please make note of that in your calendar so your child does not miss out.

In closing, we would like to share some housekeeping items with you to keep you informed.

  • Picking up items – Mr. Laidlaw will have sent time of when and where you can pick up the rest of your child’s learning items. We have placed everything that we can find into clear plastic bags with the childs name on the outside.

  • Google Classroom – we will be leaving the classroom open over the summer, HOWEVER it will be in a READ ONLY format. This should allow you to be able to click on the links and resources we have complied during the past 3 months. You will not be able to submit any work to the teachers.

  • Assigned work – Teachers will be returning ALL assignments submitted through google classroom next week sometime. You will find that the student email account will be overrun with new mail. Feel free to take a moment to clean that up for the student before September. It is recommended that you select “all” and delete the emails. They are no longer needed.

  • Raz Kids – We are thankful to Raz kids for offering this free service over the past three months. Unfortunately, this service will no longer be available over the summer. Please don’t forget about the Calgary Public Library. I know their service is a bit interrupted due to the current situation, but when it reopens, all students have free access to the books among other types of content. I believe that they also have a small selection of digital books.

Welcome to the 2019 – 2020 school year!   I would like to take the time to introduce myself, Denean Langlois. I will be your child’s grade 3 teacher. This year we will be working in room 7.   I will be waiting outside to meet you and your child Tuesday morning. I will be standing by the basketball hoops carrying a clipboard with my name on it to make it easier for you. Students will be using the north doors when they enter and exit the school at all times.   I would like to remind you of our school hours: 8:55am – 3:35pm, with early dismissal Fridays at 12:30pm.    To help your child be successful this year, please consider the following:   Eat a healthy, hearty breakfast   Have a good night’s sleep (go to bed at a reasonable time)   Send a healthy snack for morning flex time and if something is needed in the afternoon   Send indoor running shoes   My blog is in the process of being updated, however once it is active it c

Week 5

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   We hope everyone is doing well. The grade 3 teachers have been reviewing the work students have been handing in  this past week.  We are pleased with the work we have been seeing and are hoping that the changes  we have made to the structure of our classrooms  have made  schoolwork  easier for your family.    Please ensure that when your child is submitting an  assignment,  they click the submit button on the top  right-hand  corner of the screen. This ensures that their teacher knows the assignment has been  completed!              On a side note, please know we appreciate all the work our families are doing at home with the students. We understand every family has their own complexities at home and everyone is trying their best. We are here for all of you, to help you through this new type of learning. Please reach out if there is  anything  we can so to support you.     Below you will find a link to a PDF version of the Online l

Friday November 8

Voices of the students from room 7: This week at school we continued to design the new arena. We had a guest speaker and we were talking about the process of designing the blue prints (GA). We reviewed the requirements to build this building. For example our arena must have chairs, washrooms, food, water, entrances and exits (SM). We learned that the new event center needs 20 washrooms (KC). We did a bunch of bubbles and we started to plan out specific locations for our features (TD). With grid paper, we were able to figure out where the bathroom went (SW). The grid paper helps us measure how bing the rink would be and made it easier to place where everything was to go (AF). In gym we finished our basketball unit and we are strating volleyball (CS). Vollying the ball really hurts (DS). When you volley the ball it doesn't just hurt, but makes your arms really really red (ST). We learned different ways to control the ball, bump and set (AH). We are doing pamphlets and also lear
