Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,
Can you believe its June already? Time has flown by in many ways, but in others, it has come to a standstill. As we communicate with our families, teachers have noticed that priorities are constantly changing. Spending time with family, being outside, and meeting up with cohort families has taken precedent over school. Some families are done with constantly pushing their children and dealing with the stress of trying get all school work done. Please know we understand and its okay to stop and breath and take a break. Really . . . it’s okay.
Knowing that some of our students are struggling with their drive to complete tasks, we have modified some of the ways we will be presenting the work. For example, you will notice that Math will be more of a review choice board, like the options choice board. We ask that students choose a math task each day and record the task in the chart. If there is work to share, take a picture or video. We are hoping to engage our students while providing some time to review the skills we have learned prior to schools closing as well as after.
In addition, we noticed that students really enjoy our Friday meetings with all grade threes. Therefore, the last two Fridays, during our meetup, we will have an opportunity for students to showcase a talent. This is completely optional. All students are welcome to join and watch, but only those who fill out the form prior to those dates will have the opportunity to share something special they have been working on during this time. To ensure the content and activity that students will be sharing is appropriate, we ask that parents first discuss the talent with their child, plan for opportunities to practice and fill out the attached form. Each student will be given up to 2 minutes to showcase for the other grade 3’s. We are excited to see what hidden talents our students have.
