Monday January 28

We learned to do mission in possible in gym. We are doing story plans. We did math about shopping and catering. We did writers workshop. It's when we do stories. We did reading with a group. At the start of school we shard what we did on the weekend.  We went down to the ilab and picked something that we can improve on in school. And we are thinking of moving the tables.
Sage and Calix

Today I introduced the school development plan to the students. This is posted outside the iLab. Mrs. Ramsay wrote it in child friendly language where we could have a deep discussion about it. As a group we discussed what wellness looks like in our school and what we could do to make it better for ourselves and others. Students decided to work on the goal of "looking at other students work to make improvements in my own". Many time we work with our peers to give and receive feedback about our own work, but rarely do we look at the work of others and use that information to make improvement in our own. This is something that we are specifically looking at this week. Ask your child what work they looked at and how that work made a difference in their work.

Reminder
We have a field study on Thursday to the zoo. Make sure you dress for the weather!

Week 13

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   This is a very sad week for us as this will be the last week where we see all of your wonderful faces on the google meet ups,  we will be reading t he last Friday letter you wrote to us and of course  watching  the  talent show to share your passions.  All the grade three teachers are sad to see the year come to an end.  On that note, we will be changing the time of the meet up this coming Friday. Instead of meeting at 1pm, we will be meeting at 9am. This will allow for siblings to watch the grade 4 celebration and be done b efore noon. Please make not e  of that in your calendar so your child does not miss out.    In closing, w e would like to share some  housekeeping  items with you to keep you informed.    Picking up items  – Mr. Laidlaw will have sent  a  time  of when and  where you can pick up the rest of your child’s learning ite...

Week 5

Good afternoon Grade 3 Families,   We hope everyone is doing well. The grade 3 teachers have been reviewing the work students have been handing in  this past week.  We are pleased with the work we have been seeing and are hoping that the changes  we have made to the structure of our classrooms  have made  schoolwork  easier for your family.    Please ensure that when your child is submitting an  assignment,  they click the submit button on the top  right-hand  corner of the screen. This ensures that their teacher knows the assignment has been  completed!              On a side note, please know we appreciate all the work our families are doing at home with the students. We understand every family has their own complexities at home and everyone is trying their best. We are here for all of you, to help you through this new type of learning. Please reach out if there ...

Week 4

Week  4:        The grade 3 teachers have been reviewing the work students have been handing in along with the expectations from Alberta Learning. We have decided to change things a bit with the hopes that this will be easier on students and families as they juggle th e “new normal”.    Students will have expected assignments and optional assignments.  Each assignment leads to the next therefore they will need to be completed in order but not necessarily on the suggested day. Feedback will be given to students  as assignments are completed. We have also included rubrics and checklists to help students know how they will be marked as well as they can meet high er  expectations.    Optional assignments, such as the passion project, are included for students who want extra work. These will not be formally  assessed but  will be considered when looking at final marks for  Language Arts....
